Methodology

How we score

STRATUM scores are deterministic and transparent, not a black box. Each one is computed the same way every time from inputs you can inspect, and every number can be expanded to show its breakdown on the asset itself.

Scoring engine v1.0.0

What makes these valid

The metrics

Data Completeness

0–100

How much of the record is actually filled in.

Share of 11 key fields populated, coordinates, summaries, commodity, grade/reserve, ownership, licence, ≥1 document, ≥1 source, site media, last-verified date.

Source Reliability

0–100

The evidentiary quality of an asset's provenance.

Type-weighted average of each source's reliability (government & filings weigh more than news/aggregators), plus a capped bonus for corroboration across multiple independent sources.

Freshness

0–100

How recently the asset was verified.

100 if verified ≤90 days ago, tapering to 15 beyond two years. Never-verified scores 0.

Confidence

0–100

How much you can trust the record overall.

0.35 × Source Reliability + 0.30 × Verification + 0.20 × Freshness + 0.15 × Completeness.

Risk

0–100

Jurisdictional, operational and execution risk (higher = more risk).

Mapped from the analyst-assigned risk band (Low → Critical). Unrated defaults to a neutral 50.

Opportunity

0–100

Upside potential, tempered by development stage.

Opportunity band (Limited → Exceptional) with a small stage adjustment, earlier stages carry more upside but less certainty.

Investor Readiness

0–100

Whether the asset is investable yet, a defined gate, not a vibe.

Share of 6 gates met: reviewed/verified, resource or grade on file, licence on file, ≥1 document, ≥2 sources, and completeness ≥ 70.

Strategic Importance

0–100

How strategically significant the commodity is.

Critical / energy-transition minerals (lithium, cobalt, copper, rare earths, etc.) weigh highest, then precious metals, plus a maturity bonus for producing assets.

STRATUM Intelligence Score

The headline composite that ranks an asset overall:

0.30 × Confidence + 0.25 × Opportunity + 0.20 × (100 − Risk) + 0.15 × Investor Readiness + 0.10 × Completeness

Risk is inverted, lower risk lifts the score. Because each input is itself transparent, the headline number is fully traceable down to the field level.

Analysts may override any sub-score where on-the-ground knowledge differs from the model; overrides are labelled as such on the asset and recorded in the audit log. Methodology is versioned so historical scores remain reproducible.
